Human beings travelled on foot until 4000 - 3000 BC when we figured out that there were donkeys, horses and camels that made travel a bit easier. In 3500 BC the wooden wheel was invented in Iraq. Oh, the canoe was first used in 3100 BC. Not to be outdone, the Egyptians followed with a sailboat and the Romans began building roads around the same time.

Transportation took off in the 17^th & 18^th centuries with bicycles, trains, automobiles, planes and trams. Today we have freeways, toll roads, state and county roads, railroad system, subway systems air traffic control and bicycle lanes. We encounter stoplights, detours, GPS, traffic cops and potholes. Let’s not ignore delayed and cancelled flights, security lines and lost luggage. We continue to travel in a variety of ways, but it has become an artform and not for the faint of heart or those on a budget.
